Johnny Thunders

One of Vic Godard's "comeback" singles was his ode to Johnny Thunders, of the New York Dolls (shown here live at Max's Kansas City):

I had seen him a couple times live with the Dolls, and wondered how he got his hair to look like that...flash-forward a couple of years, and I was living in Brooklyn,
and got a job working as a busboy at Max's Kansas City, through the offices of Bradly Field...it was during a transit strike, there was hardly anyone there, and I was let go after a couple of hours, BUT, in that time, I did get to see Johnny come in, make a salad for himself, and promptly pass out in it. (Who needs Garnier Fructis?)

were early endorsers of the work of Television, when groups such as The Damned and
Alternative TV were writing songs making fun of them...
